![]() Revenue is down, interest rates are up, and companies have to shrink from the pandemic-level explosion of creatives working form home, so I don't know that MixMeister will be a dead project and could be revived in the foreseeable future. This is indicative of what's going on today as companies reduce post-pandemic overhead. One of my friends lost his job months after being hired. InMusic recently announced a round of layoffs at the company and has reduced staff. It was much easier to use for the novice DJ and helped the PRO DJ get the mix done far quicker than any other tool out there. And, MixMeister was just for DJ mixes and nothing else. When you import a song into Ableton, you have to constantly manage the mix volume from the outset. It also had the ability to manage the volume between songs in the sense that it created the blend for you and you could adjust it to your liking. I have used Ableton to craft DJ mixes but the biggest advantage of MixMeister in this regard was the ability to "snap" tracks together on the beat and quickly expand or contract the measures you want to include. Some people here suggest that Ableton is better than MixMeister. The problem with that is your music library is already on your other machine, so you have to pull your songs out of your current library and move them over to your other PC or Mac to utilize them in the mix. It's probably best to buy a used PC from someone you know or grab one off Facebook Marketplace to run your old version. I was able to retrieve a download and my license key, however, it only works on older PCs and Macs and no, it has not been updated for Windows 10 or anything beyond Big Sur. I recently received a reply from them regarding my old subscription. ) Īs of February 2023, MixMeister does respond to emails through their InMusic brand's email address. ![]() And remember, recycling software will help save the planet. I don't car how old it is, as I was planning on running it in a VM on my MBP, so I could use any previous version of Windows (or IOS). If anyone wants to 'lend' their copy to an appreciative old aficionado, I'd be very grateful. ![]() ![]() I'm a Traktor user, and recording sets is easy enough, but if you want to create a highly polished 2 hour mix, recording sets live isn't really an option.Īlternatively, there must be thousands of unused old copies out there. Reading around here on Reddit it doesn't look like anything has filled the gap, but someone might hopefully be able to correct me. Shame, as it looked like it might be quite good. What are people using today to create non-realtime (or what used to be called 'timeline') mixes? There was a product, TheOne, that folded after a year. The new owners of Mixmeister haven't responded to emails, and it doesn't look like the product has undergone any development since I last used it - no way I'm paying over $100 for something that's clearly EoL. But since then I've changed PC, 3 times, and shifted to IOS. It was great for crafting long and unusual mixes, layering lots of sounds and loops, and I spent a lot of time crafting 'perfect' mix cd's. Years ago (20?!) I bought a copy of Mixmeister and used it to create dozens of mixes.
